Once again, as was with Snakes And Arrows, and really IMO began with Test For Echo, Geddy has lost the ability to come up with a good melody for the most part. Musically, I like what they're doing though. |

With that said, it is hard not to observe that it's heads above most of the disposable junk you come across on the radio today, IMO. |

MEH! Snakes And Arrows Part 2.
Almost breaks my heart to say so. Let's hope the rest of Clockwork Angels is a bit more different than Snakes And Arrows.

Caravan has some nice riffs and movements in it, and it's a little aggressive Sort of like off Far Cry of Snakes and Arrows mixed with Stick it Out off of Counterparts. Groovy. BU2B is good too, but maybe not quite as interesting to me. Still, it's I am like it a lot.

For me, the problem with the new stuff is that, sonicly, everything is crammed together. Like Snakes and Arrows, and Vapor Trails, everything is mashed together to get this huge sound. You can't really hear what they are doing. Compare the new stuff to everything up to Presto. On the old stuff, I could pick out bits that each was playing. Now? Not so much. There was alway some nuance, an articulation that is missing today. Alex's playing on the last few albums really suffers because of it.

I don't think Geddy's cranking out the memorable vocal melodies as much, but what they're doing as a band is great, as far as I'm concerned.
