I used my Wal bass(into a Sans Amp Bass Driver-out to the mixer), Moog Taurus pedals and an old Juno 106.
I hope you like it...

I never cared for the Wal, but the sound of your bass changes my mind. I also expected the bass driver to suck the mids, but there were plenty.
I like it!
Great job.

Nice job.

Ahh, I knew someone would comment on the keys.
Actually the Juno 106 isn't my keyboard and those letters were written in permanent marker by the owner. I was going to erase them but I felt good enough about the version that I really didn't care if those 'cheating' notes were there.
At least I remembered to wear shoes!

Very nice - you're getting a great Geddy tone out of that Wal! I like that tone better that what he is doing with his J basses now. Just a little too dirty for me.

Did you guys watch "Beyond The Lighted Stage?" I was interested to learn that the direction they took with the Signals-p/g-Power Windows records were controversial among the band members, even at the time. I always thought it was something they did with their eyes open and moved in another direction when the time came to do that. Turns out Alex was struggling with the role of the guitar in music that had so much synth - particularly on Power Windows.

For me, Power Windows was the first new Rush CD that came out after I was already into them, so it was a big event. I always liked this tune especially.

Great job on that cover!

Well, for something that was a 'struggle' for the band and in particular, Alex, Power Windows sure turned out pretty awesome as far as I'm concerned. There are lots of great guitar moments on it. It's a great Rush album.

Wierd how Beyond The Lighted Stage kind of passes right by the later 80's-mid 90's.

From what little there was, I got the sense that they were pretty unhappy with their product from p/g up until Counterparts. Maybe they just didn't want to talk about it yet.

I'm like you; I love them all.

Yeah, it's too bad they feel that way. There's tons of great music from that period in their history, from Power Windows to Roll the Bones.

Well done, 4001. Makes me want to get a Wal now, as if that's ever going to happen!

Hold Your Fire, with all of it's synth overkill, does have some very tasty bass parts on it.

Thanks stratovani!

I loved that song right out of the box when it was released.
It's fun to play.

Great Job. Always appreciate when people give 100 percent. Can I ask you one question. Was the end of the bass part hard to learn?

one more question. How long have you been playing? I have been playing for 4 years and can only play songs by rush like vital signs and witchunt. I watched your video the hemispheres prelude. Amazing!!!!!! Note for Note. Congrats for having so much talent.

Thanks, 1dgbass!

None of it was hard from a notation standpoint, but to get that perculating, poppy attitude with some of that at the end was a bit tough to learn back in 1985-86 and can be tough at times to this day.

That was great! Do you take requests? I liked the sound of your Wal so much, now I want to hear you play "Open Secrets" form "Hold Your Fire", that's another cool Wal bass line.
