Has anyone heard Rush's new single Caravan? It's been released with a B-side called BU2B. It sounds pretty great, I'm excited for the new album!

I can't say. All I know is, the bass for both songs is in standard tuning EADG. I've already learned BU2B and some of Caravan. I would also assume that the guitar is standard as well.
Geddy is however singing at a lower register. Not by much, but it's definitely not as high as S&A (see: Spindrift).

Geddy's voice has "matured" (if you want to use that term) to become less shrill and more smooth over the years. And at times he sings harmony parts when the normal vocal melodies are too straining.
It's just a part of aging, but I don't think they've de-tuned any of their songs live save for the two I've listed.

I don't think they're tuning down the new stuff, I read up on Snakes & Arrows when it came out and they never said anything about tuning down. I know they tune down older songs as mentioned above, as Geddy just can't hit the same notes he used to, but that's all I've ever heard of.

They have really been going for the "huge, uninterrupted wall of sound" thing. It's a little fatiguing to my aging ears. Plus, I go back and listen to the wonderful Rush songs of yore and hear a lot of space - I wonder why they changed the approach to begin with? |

Especially the fact they reprised part of Earthshine in Caravan, which happened to be my favorite off S&A.
