Rush Stainless Steel

Sign in to disble this ad
So, I'm wondering if anybody can find a SAFE link to the Rush bootleg "Stainless Steel", which is the only known live Rush performance in circulation from the Caress of Steel (AKA 'Down the Tubes') Tour. It features By Tor and the Snow Dog, Bastille Day, and the Necromancer in their entirety live. If you can provide me with a link to it, I'd be overjoyed.

I've been looking all over, and all the sites are either spyware-ridden messes or don't actually have a download link.

Can't get to it. Oh well. I want to get it from Sendspace or Rapidshare anyway. They are the only two download sites that I've ever found to be 100% safe.

I know its a rare recording but Ive heard a couple of snippets from it and it didnt sound all that great to be honest. Geddy's voice is so low in the mix its bad. I dont get into bootlegs much at all but I didnt recently download one called a desert passage which is pretty good and has most of the same tracks as stainless steel.

I have Desert Passage. Probably the best boot out there from that period. my favorite at least.

Wait, you were right. Mix SUCKS!!!! How disappointing! I was so thrilled to find it. Oh well.....I can always send you the one of them on the radio station KQIV in NYC in 74. probably the cleanest boot and one of the rarest I'd say, even if there's some cuts and the original recording seems to have been longer. I've dubbed it "the Rush of the Radio"

It probably has another, cooler, better name but I can't find it. I'm still looking through Digitalrushexperience's archives.

I found that picture of them at something called "Bandstand" (which I think was in color video on the new documentary) and use that as artwork.

It sounds like Geddy's playing his (then) new Ric 4001. (which he first used around the birth of "Fly By Night", which this is extremely close to. Geddy often refers to "the new album, which'll be coming out in Febuary" They play Anthem, Fly By Night, Best I Can, etc. all from Fly By Night.) I've never heard a P bass sound like what he sounds like in the boot. Bass tone is exactly like Caress of Steel or 2112, so it's logical to assume it's the Ric.

But yeah, they also start playing a jam part in Working Man, and IT'S FROM BY TOR AND THE SNOW DOG!!! It sounds like they'd been using that part as a jam for a while, and later, used it for BT&SD. It's awesome to witness that little seed, that later translated into Rush's first foray into myth/sci-fi inspired epics.
