Is it just me or is Mr.Lifeson really only pretending to be doing backing vocals here?! First of all, his voice sounds very similar to Geddy's which is already suspicious, and there's a shot where you hear two guys singing but "Big Al" isn't anywhere near his mic, jumping about the stage. What's with that then!?!

I was watching R30 and wondered exactly the same. His voice sounds pretty similar to Geddy`s and I know his register is nowhere near.

from what I've read, I believe Geddy's harmony vocals are what we hear.
I've heard conflicting rumors as to how they're 'triggered.'

My only concern re: Alex Lifeson on Rush In Rio is.... we seriously need to get that guy on a treadmill. He looks like he's about to have a heart attack.

SERIOUSLY!

I don't suppose this could really be them on Myspace, but whoever it is does a great job of impersonating Alex (if it's not him)

Except for his questionable taste in top 8...

I did! Mostly because I had never seen the "Exit...Stage Left" part before (as opposed to the "Grace Under Pressure" and "A Show Of Hands" ones), and I actually like that one best out of the three, also because it has the best sound, IMO. It sounds better than the album, especially the drums. Unfortunately, the DVD doesn't have as many songs on it - No "Jacob's Ladder" But it cracks me up when the guys w*nk about with their double-neck guitars on "Xanadu"

I am not 100% sure, but I have a feeling they have done some kind of editing to the vocal track on "A Show Of Hands"; For example, Alex' vocals on "Marathon" are an octave below Geddy's, which I had never heard watching the video tape. I also think you could hear the bass better on the latter. And I still think the stuff G and A are wearing is terrible, hehe.

By the way, I think there's also been an actual thread on "Replay x 3" a while ago - Have a look!

why did they bother releasing R30???

i have the rush in rio dvd, and i went to the tour that R30 was filmed on, and the setlists were 95 percent the same...rush is a great band, but they gotta mix it up some...so much of their stuff is never heard live.

True, but "R30" has "Darn That Dragon!" on it!
