Slaughtering? I thought they did a good job! Don't forget, Jaco's version was sort of a 'horn' band arrangement as well.

It wasn't utterly terrible but there was nothing much good I could say about it either. The drummer seemed a little heavy handed on his cymbals.

I sold the Status S2 because I just wasn't using it. The bass I was using there was my Jazz with the Status neck (the fretted version).

That's a really cool version!

I was quite surprised to see you sitting there with a 4 string bass in the pic on that page, Ed. I thought you were a lost cause.

I remember you emailing me about selling the S2, was such a lovely colour...good thing I didn't have the cash for it then!

No, not totally a lost cause, but I don't think you'll see too many pics of me with that few strings ....

Not to mention Jaco was also a substance abuser.

Here's an update to this thread - this time we're playing the number at my Dad's 80th birthday party.

I'm giving this a BUMP, because I just listened to it through a decent system and I think it sounds not bad at all, considering how it was done. It was a terrific day out!

What do you think of this version we did of "The Chicken", then, guys? Sounds better if you can turn it up loud enough to really hear the bass. Or perhaps not. Go on, be totally honest.

Dig your playing on both versions.

I think it's probably bigger sacrilege that I'm unfamiliar with the original.
