I just bought Sade's latest album, Soldier Of Love. I've decided it should have been called Soldier Of Blah. Talk about lacklustre. This album isn't doing a thing for me. I own all of Sade's previous albums and, while I like some better than others, I've found each one has contained a handful of songs that I've enjoyed. Not this one. Boring rhythmically, boring melodically, boring harmonically and boring texturally. Has anyone else listened to this album? Am I being too harsh or has Sade indeed mellowed to the point of utter blandness? |

Unfortunately, it's the same old thing, her usual formulaic patterns .....
But boy, she still looks beautiful and her voice seems like it's held up nicely. I think you're right, Dr C, time for the oldies-revisited tour .... |

He loves it though and insists that it is getting a lot of airplay, so I'm going with it. I think we'd get a lot more mileage out of "Smooth Operator", but that mighty just be because I'm a bassist.
Sad thing is, I've heard that "Soldier of Love" is far and away the strongest song on the album. I haven't listened to the whole album, but if that is true, it would be very disappointing.

| | | I just listened to the song Soldier Of Love and I do not think it is good at all. Boring and mundane.
Here it is if you have not heard it yet. http://www.myspace.com/sade |
