Sadowsky NYC PJ5 w/Flats thru Genz Benz Streamliner, NO PA support

Sign in to disble this ad
Like the title says, this is the sound of my Sadowsky (D'Addario Chrome Flats) thru my new Genz Benz Streamliner head which is driving two Accugroove Tri115L's. I was so loud on stage that I wasn't in the PA at all. I recorded this thru a Zoom Q3 Recorder. Enjoy!!

Glad you posted up in the Sadowsky thread, or I would have missed this. Only listened to a couple tunes, but sounds great!!!! I'll listen to more over the next day or two. Nice!

+1, thanks for the heads-up on the club thread.

I'm listening to Use Me at the moment and the bass sounds full and warm...and loud! I like that!

How do you like the Streamliner with the PJ? It is a head I'm considering.

...now back to your clips.

Your bass might sound awesome but the clips just sound really bad buddy. Nice playing by the way.

Next time get a L-R mix from the FOH.

Hey Fran,

Just to briefly comment... the Streamliner with a P or a J is a beautiful thing. Kind of in a similar vibe to the DB750, but with IMO more articulation and punch and 'clarity' for lack of a better term. I have a couple clips of my Nordy P with the Streamliner and my AE410 on my Youtube channel if you want another data point. I think that is the same P pickup that Roger uses on some of the PJ's.

That is kind of a different thing. Sometimes, it is nice to get a feel for what the audience actually hears. Both have their place IMO. In this case, with the bass not in the PA, and the very high quality of the audio recording of the Q3, this is probably a pretty good indication of what it sounds like out in the room. Sounds good to me given that context, and the goal of the recording to provide a data point for the sound of the stage rig.

Uh... no.. the audience hears what eventually comes out of the speakers, NOT just what comes out of the board with a direct feed (and of course, you would hear NOTHING of what the amp and cab sounds like at all unless the cab was mic'd).

TOTALLY different thing. This recording does a great job of including the room ambience, the stage sound, the PA sound, etc., etc., and is, I would guess, pretty representative of what the typical customer hears. Sounds good to me for the primary reason of communicating the sound of the bass rig.

I agree with you, if you were recording a live CD or something, there are better ways to do it.

Yep, purely to show what the rig sounds like in FOH with no PA. These recorders are good for capturing a sketch if anything. Not a professional recording by any means. And for the record that was placed dead center in between the mains.

your clips with the VP5 were one of the reasons why I got very interested on this amp.

I'll have more to post in a day or so. Going to record another show tonight with my main band Equilibrium. Again, it'll be without a PA, so you'll hear the rig/bass more. And Possibly even a clearer picture of my ugly mug.
