Scatting over changes

I was inspired to start this thread after seeing this.

It's Chet Baker (with Stan Getz) playing "Just Friends". His scatting is incredible. I imagine being an instrumentalist, he has an insight that a regular jazz singer might not. I'm not saying that jazz singers aren't knowledgeable in theory. It's just that he's one with his vocal improv as he is with his trumpet.

Anyone have any favorite clips to share?

They really should invent another word for it though.

Wow! Thanks for the link. I think Chet and
Stan are great and I have many of their
collaboration-projects and solo-releases
as well as some unofficial recordings.

This is not a video( just sound) and it doesn't
include scatting, but it's great nevertheless:

It's a live recording of Wes Montgomery and the
Wynton Kelly performing Coltrane's "Impressions".
Tell me what you think.

I will post some links of scatting-videos some
other time.

Here's a great video of Al Jarreau singing
one of his versions of "Take Five" live in
1976:

This was Al Jarreau at his peak as a jazz-singer.

Wow, that was quite an intense performance! I've never seen/heard anything quite like it. I like the 70's feel. Thanks for sharing that. I actually wasn't very familiar with Al Jarreau except by name. I can see what you mean when you say "peak" though!

That was also a smokin' version of Impressions. I'd only heard this version of Wes Montgomery playing Impressions before. Even though the tempo is almost as fast, this one's surprisingly laid back in comparison.
