Scofield/DeJohnette/Goldings - new album out this month

Not particularly bass-related but I'd thought I'd flag this one up for the jazzers.

John Scofield, Jack DeJohnette and Larry Goldings have formed 'Trio Beyond', a tribute to Tony Williams' Lifetime. They haven't played that many gigs, but their November 2004 London show (which was storming!) was recorded by ECM and is out next week.

The repertoire is tunes by Larry Young, John McLaughlin and Tony Williams, plus tunes associated with them, such as 'Seven Steps to Heaven' and some Joe Henderson compositions.

One to look out for.

EDIT: The album will be called 'Saudades'

Tracklisting:
DISC ONE
1. 'If'
2. 'As One'
3. 'Allah be Praised'
4. 'Saudades'
5. 'Pee Wee'
6. 'Spectrum'

DISC TWO:
1. 'Seven Steps to Heaven'
2. 'I Fall in Love Too Easily'
3. 'Live in Blues'
4. 'Big Nick'
5. 'Emergency'

Just thought I'd bump this one up.

Picked up the album last week and it's getting some serious airplay in my house.

A couple of reviews I've read are calling this one of the releases of the year.

DeJohnette gives a masterclass in jazz-fusion drumming on this. Definitely captures the spirit of Tony Williams.

Larry Goldings is a new name to me. Turns out his main gig is with Curtis Stigers! A very cool Hammond player, who like Larry Young, manages to avoid those Jimmy Smith cliches.

Great CD! Goldings has been around awhile, he does a great job in this situation.
