The Search for Call of Ktulu's Lead Bass

Does anyone know how I might be able to hear the lead bass on this track better? I've always wanted to hear it, but I can't...I've tried using headphones, messing with iTunes's EQ, and I found one that alleges to let us hear the bass work, but it just sounded rotten.

Does anyone have tips for how I can bring the bass forward so I can hear it?

This one might be a little easier to hear. Plus it has mustaine soloing on it.

I've tried it before, and I like it...but Mustaine isn't soloing that. He didn't play the Ride the Lightning demos.
