I was sitting here listening to my iPhone and noticed how much I was enjoying music from some artists that I don't openly admit to liking for whatever reason.
I thought: What a great idea for a thread!
Let's hear it - who do you secretly like? I'll go first:
1. Barry Manilow (that might get me banned from here);
2. Barbra Streisand (that will DEFINITELY get me banned);
Actually, Manilow's 2 AM Paradise Cafe" is an EXCELLENT album, and I'm VERY partial to Streisand's "The Broadway Album."
OK - dirty laundry aired. Who's next? Let's hear it!

BTW, you did.

Just mind-bogglingly good vocal chops. |

At her prime, Streisand had one of the best voices in music. Excellent control, range, power, lyrical interpretation... just a phenomenal voice.

I am on a Burt Bacharach and Herb Alpert kick right now. Any 60's adult contemporary (IE: E-Z Listening) music.
Like many Nashville players, these guys are 1-2 take musicians & their precision, clean lines and the mini-licks the producer let slide are what I listen for & try to emulate.
Carpenters, America, Carly Simon...stuff like that. The heavy-rotation stuff.

She can sing and I like the fact that she doesn't try to fit into the "perfect body image" of a popstar. She is who she is and is comfortable with herself.
Some older stuff: Monkees, Bread, Carpenters, Little River Band, America, Three Dog Night, Elton John, Supremes (love the bass lines), Rick Springfield ( he writes some catchy hooks and is pretty good guitar player. I saw one of his concerts on television and the guy is a great entertainer, lots of energy).
