I started a similar thread several months ago. The bands and artists that I usually don't admit that I like are The Monkees, The Supremes, Adele, Elton John, Little River Band (great vocals), Orleans.

Great basslines in those tunes. Really good songwriting too. Great melodies.

The worst I'll admit to is Michael Jackson, but I'm still careful who I admit it to, just because his general weirdness is what people tend to focus on. His music was dope though! Best funk/pop out there, and thats what you get with the best session musicians around, and Quincy Jones at the helm.

Otherwise, One directions song "you dont know youre beautiful" or whatever it is, is insanely catchy. I really like Tony Bennett and Dean Martin, which I'd cop a beating for if people my age found out.

Red Hot Chili Peppers. I like the californication record a bit, but just a tiny bit. But I go elsewhere for fonkin and you won't see me ruining my street cred with them!

Runner up would be Daft Punk. The discovery record, and especially the accompanying movie, were outstanding. Sadly my band doesn't want to cover Digital Love, they're such buzzkills... people give me weird looks for liking them so I guess that qualifies.

I have all the cd's from Nelly Furtado. Love every single bit of her career. Folklore is my favorite, by far. (hey, have banjo, and some cool bass lines)

I'm constantly surrounded by country, blues, and soul players. I don't get into the fact that one of my favorite live concert videos ever is Incubus at Red Rock. Of course, I have no trouble admitting that Ben Kenny is amazing, and we even have matching rigs (although his are 12s and mine are 15s). But that whole concert is great to me.

I own every Taylor Swift album she's ever put out. My friends mock me relentlessly but I don't care. She can write a pop hook like nobody's business.

As I get older I've become a lot more shameless about my musical tastes, so I have no problems with playing out loud Carpenters, Brasil 66, America, Streisand, Jack Jones, Judy Garland, whatever feels right at the time as long as it's of high quality.

I think once you take the music out of the cultural context of its time and just listen to it on it's own merits a lot of the "guilt" goes away. Great music and great musicianship always speaks for itself.

Bee Gees for me. Although it's not really a secret anymore. After my wife kept using my secret as leverage against me, to get her way, I finally fessed up to my band mates and friends. They called me names (sniff) but I don't (sniff) care. I still like me some Bee Gees.

I have highlighted the critically acclaimed bands you need feel no shame about.

P.S. Danny Partridge is my first bass idol!

I have started really digging some country artists lately and it took me a while to even admit it to myself....Brad Paisley, Lady Antebellum, Zach Brown Band etc... A nice balance between musicianship and good song writing/story telling.

Bee Gees were great! Particularly if you take into account their whole body of work and not just the disco stuff that made them mega-famous.

I've always thought more than a woman was a great song. Don't tell anyone that though.

Bye Bye Bye - Backstreet Boys (this is a judgment free zone, right?)
Call Me Maybe - Carly Rae Jepsen (most of her stuff)
Welcome to Paradise - Green Day (I don't usually like them)
Most Hip-Hop I listen to b/c I'm generally too white to be listening to Hip-Hop

Edit: Let's add Ke$ha to this lineup, considering I'm listening to her album Warrior for the second time today and enjoying every moment
