Sgt. Pepper Isolated McCartney Bass Tracks

Sign in to disble this ad
It was a pleasure to share my rare Jaco and Jamerson tracks in '06 and '07. Now I've got something special for you guys for the new year: two isolated bass tracks from the Beatles' actual Sgt. Pepper 4 track master (mostly isolated actually, Ringo plays on one).

Hope all you Beatles and McCartney fans enjoy these, glad I can be of help... until Apple comes calling, of course.

Are there any way of savings these as files on my computer so I can listen to them whenever?

The thing that strikes me about Macca and Jamerson's tracks when isolated is they sound very muddy and dirty, like they have a bit of distortion and roughness around the edginess... it's that thing of some of the best music maintaining unique imperfection to give it a very warm quality.

right click and save the .m3u files and then open them in an editor like notepad... they are just text files that contain the link to the file on the server... use the link inside the file.

Cheers mate

Also: why do we need a password to hear the Jamerson tracks? That was one of my favourite pages on the internet!

Searching for "Jamerson isolated tracks" or similar on google will bring up links to those tracks. Since everyone is jizzing all over Paul's raw tracks, I'll mention that it's very cool to hear Ringo's drums straight from the mics.

Macca Cool

Thanks for sharing these tracks! How you got access to the masters remains a mystery to me. I am looking forward to hearing the Jamerson tracks soon. Keep 'em coming!

it's funny how people slag off Ringo's drumming- but his playing's pretty tight.

the final note Macca plays on a little help from my friends jars a bit (it's the fifth up from the root?).
I notice he often goes to the root of the next chord a bar or a beat or two early which adds tension.

was Sgt pepper really just on 4track?
wow, must have been some careful bouncing down going on.
I recorded in Toerag studio last year, which is 8 track analogue. having drums on just 1 track is a strangely novel experience, as we're used to all the components panned accross the mix.

the present day studio footage in Howard Goodall's 20th century greats programme on the Beatles was filmed at Toerag;

The key to the beauty of simplicity on "A day in the life" is Macca's masterful use of staccato/legato notes to create a sort of ebb & flow throughout the song. A very simple and effective technique that often gets overlooked. Macca was a master of this.

This is fantastic, especially A Day in the Life. I love that song, oh and another +1 for Ringo being good!
