Sharay Reed is proof that the future is bright. Unlike the Slapasauruses of the 1970's generation, players like Sharay Reed seem to have really learned alot from gospel as well as James Jamerson and Anthony Jackson. I bet he liked Bernard Edwards too.

I think Derrick Hodge (Maxwell) and Adam Blackstone (Jill Scott & Al Green) are two other great examples of the newer generation's approach to r&b.

I mentioned this before, but I think it is cool that both Sharay Reed and Derrick Hodge play Ninties era American Fender Jazz V Deluxes (Suhr electronics.) They are both proof of the great music you can make with modest production basses.

Sharay Reed is the grooviest pocket bass player in gospel trust me wont see any bass player that is able to groove and play pocket like he does.... He's just awesome .

he's in my top 3 including:maurice fitzgerald and andrew gouche
