How often have you heard a recording and been really impressed with tha tone & style of the bassist? Probably dozens & dozens yeah? Now, how many of those times have you been able to quiz the bassist about what he/she used and how they used it to get that tone? Probably not as often as you'd like?
So, about a week ago I came across the myspace page and recorded work of one of our fellow TB'ers. I was really impressed. Not just with the chops, but with the tone and quality of the work.
I asked a few questions regarding what bass/basses she used in a certain song and was really surprized with what she told me. 2 basses were used and one bass in particular was a make & model that I really never gave any cred to. Not sure why, but it was what it was. That bass in that track was just killer sounding.
Anyway, the experience and insight totally changed my opinion about this bass. For what its worth, it was an Ibby BTB.
My point? No, this is not a pulg for an Ibanez bass. My point is how it was an excellent opportunity to not only check out some cool tunes but to also be able to have a little Q&A regarding a recorded work (i.e. bass, effects, board, settings, compression levels, etc)..
Sooooooooo, any and all, if you have a track or two that you're really proud of (playing AND tone-wise), share a link to it. Be sure and mention what bass(es) you used and what all was in the signal chain. You might enlighten a few of us
