ultimately, people can find whatever reason they want to listen to or not listen to anything. in the end, if they like a song but don't listen to it because they think it's bad for them in some manner, they are the ones who can best say for themselves on that topic anyway, right?

I've never seen anybody do that. Got any examples?

I don't remember the names of the bands or anything, but I've been to shows like that...
Well maybe I exaggerated a little bit, it was more than 10 minutes of songs and less than 50 minutes of preaching. But I've seen it where there is A LOT more talk than music. It's possible they weren't deliberately trying to "trick" anyone into hearing the gospel. And I didn't necessarily disagree with what was said. But I payed to hear music, not a sermon. I felt cheated, and really the people who the bands were supposed to be "reaching out" to, nonbelievers, probably felt cheated even more so.

well for people who can't decide what they're allowed to listen to, i guess talking to a priest/minister/whatever would be best. otherwise, yes, and i really don't see what there is to discuss.

some folks' fear of damnation might be stronger than their faith in their own judgement, so i guess it's good that there's experts to help sort out these kinds of things. for the sheep.

I'm going to say that comment is on thin ice, whether or not you are a moderator.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that. Aren't moderators supposed to moderate, not instigate?

yyyyyyyeah, as i said there's really not much to discuss, so i'm giving it the old closeroo before it gets ugly.

oh, and to be fair, the shepherd/flock analogy is used multiple times in the bible, john was probably just referencing that.
