Nice! I happen' to own a viola da gamba, but I never seem to find enough time to actually learn how to play it. It's a real pity, 'cause it's such a beautiful sounding instrument. Do you play it much?

Anyway, here's a few pictures of me, soundchecking before a short - just one song - session with a local rock-y singer/songwriter, a short while ago:

I really liked the combination of my Starfire and an Ampeg rig...

...but the Hagström Super Swede that was hanging on a wall in the studio didn't sound half bad either. Quite the opposite.

I ended up using the Starfire, though, and I can't wait to hear the finished song.

I'm studying it at italian conservatory. Yes, I love viola da gamba. I'm working for finding contemporary music for this amazing instrument. sometimes I play some works of japanese composer Nobuo Uematsu re-arranged for viola (here a small reharsal video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wx7_IO5_myA ), and I'm working with some contemporary composers for playing their pieces.

It's a wonderful instrument!

I liked that video, thanks for posting it!

I must also say that it's great to hear that you're working with contemporary composers. The viola da gamba is, in my opinion, a under-used instrument on the contemporary classical scene. But hopefully, that might change.
