A week or so ago I caught a show on Palladia called "CMT Crossroads" - apparently a show where modern pop/rock stars collaborate with popular country artists in a small venue setting.
The first show I caught was Keith Urban (one of the few modern country artists I like) with John Mayer (one of my favorite artists of any genre). The show blew me away - it was very laid-back, very cool.
So today, I'm cleaning house and see that Def Leppard and Taylor Swift are on Crossroads, and put that on.
Holy Jeebus, was it good!
Taylor's gorgeous and comes off as a very talented, very sincere, country girl having fun. Def Leppard come off as real pros, from beginning to end. Great mix of songs and great cooperation on them. I have to admit to having trouble with the emo-country lead guitarist she's got in her band, but that's purely on looks and not his chops - seemed pretty solid to me, just an odd look for a country guitarist.
Now I'm watching Maroon 5 and Sara Evans - and as much as I can appreciate them, I'm not a huge fan of either. Gotta say, though, that Sara is totally outclassing and outsinging Adam Levine, Maroon 5's singer. He's good, but she's just got a really strong voice, great mic control, great presence. Lots of great chemistry between them, though.
Anybody else watch and appreciate this show? And particular episodes I should keep my eyes out for?
