The band im in is working on a bunch of originals now, and we always come across some stuff when we jam thats sounds like other already recorded, "pro" songs.
Theres so much music out there its inevitable that your going to get stuff that sounds alike, you just gotta put your own spin on it right?
So the question im basically asking is, how close is to close? Aside from being exactly the same and getting sued, where does the line have to be drawn?
This could be a cool topic to discuss on, so im just throwin it out there.
Also if you find some songs that do sound a lot alike, its always cool to kinda hear them.
I know of two that are pretty close and thats Brakish by Kittie, and Loco by Coal Chamber. It startled me how similar they are, so in that example would you accuse one of those bands for 'copying' the other and think less of them for it, or just accept it as a coincidence? |
