Slayer - Christ Illusion

Anyone else have/dig this album.

I never thought I'd say it, but Slayer have risen from the ashes of "God hates us all" (awful) to create Christ Illusion (I think they've got something against Christians... even though I guess Tom Araya may be a Christian).

Dave Lombardo sounds better than ever, and seems to have brought new life into the band. But this album is amazing, it's probably my favorite Slayer album. It's like Reign in Blood, but more killer and less filler... because most songs off RIB are filler, I don't care who that offends.

But if you are an old school Slayer fan disappointed by new Slayer, rejoice in Christ Illusion, it seriously rules.

Don't know if it's been discussed here, but any

God Hates Us All rocked the sock. I don't really care for any of their other work, though, and I much prefer Paul on drums to Dave.

I got Christ Illusion back when it came out and I really like it. I didn't think that God Hates Us All was bad, just not all that memorable. But this album is a real return to form for them.

And all due respect to Paul, but Dave Lombardo is the best drummer for Slayer. It shows on this album and he still kicks ass live.

It's thrashy, and that makes it better than GHUA.

Reign in Blood may all sound the same now- but back in the day, wowzers.

My favorite Slayer record remains Haunting the Chapel.

God Hates Us All was pretty crap, Christ Illusion is better but still not very good. I don't hate either album but they pale by comparison to Slayer's past.

Seasons in the Abyss and Reign in Blood are my favorites, but honestly they didn't make a bad album until Diabolus in Musica. It's not like they Metallica'd out so I can still respect them for being loud and obnoxious, I just prefer their older work.

For some reason I just don't get too excited for Slayer anymore...weird, cause I used to loooooove them. Maybe this album will help me get back into them.

I think they are just cashing out now, I don't mind them doing it but everything post Seasons was terrible.

Show No Mercy was probably the best slayer before they went Chromatic ;-p
