"Tin Pan Alley" by SRV is real slow w/ lots of space and some seriously tasty guitar and nice dynamics.

I don't know if you want traditional blues or something else..

The first two blues/rock that came to mind where:

ZZ Top - Blue Jean Blues
Led Zeppelin - I'm Gonna Crawl

Those are good, thanks. Traditional or blues-rock as long as it is slow and with space.

The Matt Schofield Trio's "Lights Are On But Nobodys Home" is a great slow blues song.

Robin Trower was a guitar hero of mine back around 1974 and still is. He was a master of the slow stuff.

So does Robin and his band still put on a great performance, Jeff?

Life Is Hard (my all time favorite) and Blue Mood, both recorded by Johnny Winter. The latter has a bit of a jazz blues feel, so walking bass lines are good fit. If you can't find the tunes, send me a PM with your email address and I'll send them to you.

i said to a friend as we left (old fogey voice on) " too bad there weren't any young kids here--instead of playing 'guitar hero II' they could have seen a real live guitar hero!"

Trower put on a real good show--3 piece plus vocalist. bassist had a markbass 6x10 and markbass rack of heads. I couldn't id his bass though--may be a custom--tele style headstock, maple neck 4 string single pup kind of in the MM position--no exposed poles, teal or light blue colored (tough to tell w/ the stage lights) white p/g. full deep tone. (although i was against the back wall so there may have been some coupling)

amazing how full a trio sounds--Trower is a master at keeping his lead and rhythm parts with the same "fullness" so there's no "dropout" in the overall sound as he segues between the two. He did several extended sections of songs, e.g. too rolling stoned, where there is a slow tempo throbbing drum and bass line that he jams over.

definitely not an "oldies" act although he does still play the familiar fm rock songs from his catalog. nothing from the new disc w/ jack bruce--rumor has it they may tour together next year.

The John Mayer Trio's "Try" live record has a few slow bluesy numbers with alot of space and vibe. Steve Jordan is a master of taste on the drums. Pino on bass is superb. What a rythum section!

It's an old album but the Paul Butterfield Better Days band was great. On their first album just called Better Days they had one of the slowest Blues I can remember and they made it groove. The drummer was Christopher Parker, Billy Rich on bass, Amos Garrett guitar, Geoff Muldaur on KB, the late Great Paul Butterfield on vocals and harp. This group and album is a classic.
