If Metallica listened to a lot of St. Vitus, maybe these songs would have sounded more like this:

Creeping Death: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LddY..._embedded#t=52

For Whom the Bell Tolls: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0MMT..._embedded#t=38

Actually kinda cool. Except for the vocals (which now sound uber cheesy), it sounds pretty good. I would play metallica like this.

Slowing down music has some crazy results.

One of my room mates found out that The Locust at half speed is AWESOME. So much in fact we are toying with the idea of covering those songs slowed down, dress up, and do some lame Halloween-themed show(s).

yeah... the vox are cheesy... but-eh they were-eh pretty-eh cheesy to begin with-eh to be honest-eh...

You can do this (sorta) with Windows media player if you right click the play button and chose play at slow speed, or fast. It slows it down, but doesn't change the pitch, so it's not going to sound like this, but it's pretty cool with some stuff. I sped up some Hatebreed and it made it sound a lot like Slayer.

Slow down some P-Funk and you'll see where Dr. Dre got most of his ideas.

I like doing it with BestPractice, you can set it so the pitch dosent change, or how much you want the pitch to change. Cool stuff.

EDIT: speeding the song up, and dropping the pitch is fun too!
