Sly & the Family Stone Remasters - Fresh

I just picked this up today, and it is BALLZ.

Most seem to favor "There's a Riot Goin' On", but I tend to find the laid-back funk of "Fresh" to be where it's at. Imagine a whole record of "Family Affair", but with slightly better recordings. Yeah, baby: Smoove.

Also, if you aren't familiar with the original recording of "If You Want Me to Stay", you can find it here and be dazzled. I have to say it puts the RHCP's cover to shame -- and I'm a fan of that version. I really like Flea, but I will have Rusty Allen's baby. Or I would have, back in '73, I guess.

Anyway, this record is great stuff. Joe Bob says check it out.

BTW - Anybody familiar with Sly's 70's Japanese records? An old bandmate of mine raves about them, but I have yet to track any of them down...

I love the Fresh album! I think Rusty's work on that and the followup album 'Small Talk' is very overlooked.

Fresh is incredible. According to Dave Liebman, Miles made him listen to In Time over and over the first night they met to talk about his joining the band.
