Never was much of a fan of Metallica.

However, as a Lou Reed fan i'm about to give it a listen now.

Listen Free:
Lou Reed & Metallica | 'Lulu' Available October 31 (Worldwide) & November 1 (North America)

Hi.

Didn't even know they were doing that album before my GF read me the review on a magazine over here, and IIRC, it was shot down. Completely.

So I may have to download it. Illegally of course, if for nothing else, to PO my namesake .

I doubt it'll last more than one listening though...

I'm not much of a Metallica fan, but boy have they gone far from the "original" music they used to play.

I like Lou better, but can't really grasp the marriage.

Regards
Sam

Long thread on this over on Misc.

Also, they are performing on Jools Holland tonight. US fans can catch up on the BBC iPlayer. Might be worth a watch out of curiosity if nothing else...

it's Lou Reed w/metallica backing him ... it's meh ... if your a Lou Reed fan you will like it...if your not a Lou Reed fan you won't.

The latest "Metallica" album "Death Magnetic" is pretty awesome. They got back to their roots but evolved. And IMO is their best album to date.

Hi.

Out of sheer curiosity, I listened "The View" on Youtube.

Oh...

My...

GOD

Rest assured Lars, I won't download the album. Illegally or otherwise.

If this tune is any indication about the rest, William Shatner over ripped off Tony Iommi riffs is something I won't waste my time with.

Perhaps it was too artistic for my simple taste, but I've heard 15 year olds to come up with better material than that. No offense to any 15 year olds out there.

Regards
Sam

i read about this some more Lulu is a play or book or something ... it's Lou doing it his style with metallica playing ...

considering what it is ... it's not really an album at all... it's more of an artsy thing they callobrated on ... and i sort of get it now. I can see why it was on "the view" considering what "lulu" actually is/was.

A missed opportunity I reckon, they could have been credited here.

You are not being fair to Lou Reed on this thread.

Skip this, and go find "Berlin," and REALLY listen through it.

You might be surprised.

The instrumentation is what really sells it.
