well, kind of.
we just got the pre masterings of our soon to be released Demo EP.

We are a hard rock/stoner rock/ call it as you like rock band from a small city in germany, have a couple of songs down, and were ready to go to record for the first time. so after we did, we got these 4 tracks, pre mastered. now itīs up to us to decide on the last details. there are a few things we are going to change, but i would like to hear some of your opinions.
TB has been very reliable and is filled with great musicians, so i hope to get some reviews on the songs, sound, or anything that you guys come up with.
if you have any questions, donīt hesitate on asking, i will do my best to answer them ASAP.

here is the link to our 4 Songs.

reminds me of Black Sabbath with the singer of The Cult doing vocals..

not my style but it's actually pretty cool stuff..

I do like the fact that you guys have your own sound and it isnt the normal metal mush that seems to be swarming around these days..

I don't know if you use this saying or something like it in Germany, but opinions are like a**holes...everyone's got one ;-). Take EVERYTHING with a grain of salt.

That said..

The envelope filter or wah on the bass reminds me of Rex Brown with Down, very cool. Instrumental stuff is really tight, vocals are good, but in this genre a lot of people tend to push the lead vox back in the mix...sounds a little up-front and dry to me, maybe the right reverb would help.

All the riffs and tones are great, got that Sabbath-y feel down but you're putting your own spin on it.

Vocals on "Skeleton Zoo" and "Slap Clap" are nice and dirty, sounds like John Garcia of Kyuss, one of my faves in this genre.

Mix overall is fine (I have headphones plugged into my laptop) in terms of the guitar bass are distinct, the guitarist doesn't overdo it with gain, which helps a ton.

This is good stuff. Keep doing what you're doing, as long as it sounds like the direction you want, you're be golden.

Cheers

thank you guys for the Posts, i really appreciate it a lot.
the FX on the bass is a EHX bassballs, which i use in front of a BBB
nice to be compared to sabbath, i am personally big fans of them as i am of kyuss.
itīs good to be compared to ones heros, really gets the mood up.

so here is our myspace site.

listening now, sounds great. makes me want a Bassballs

some notes on the recordings:

snare drum sounds very 'tinny' - not much midrange punch. don't know if this is deliberate, but you can boost it somewhere in the 250-400 hz range if you want a bit more 'whoomph'

vocals - the singer has a great voice but it isn't blending well in the mix to my ears - sounds very 'dry'. Sounds like you could use a bit of subtle, long reverb on there to open it up a bit.

(EDIT the middle vocal part of 'God From Below' has suddenly gone reverby/distorted and it sounds GREAT - more reverb on the verses/choruses i say! maybe even a bit of saturation throughout)

also for this style of music the vocals are often lower in the mix. this is matter of personal taste though

guitars/bass sound great.

more to follow

one more thing - the drums are obviously very well recorded but they would benefit from some slightly harder compression on the master stereo drum mix - IMO of course.
