I'm looking to buy some solo bass albums, preferably just bass/two bass racks/ bass drums/ drum machine that kind of thing. And preferably quite modern upbeat stuff but anything will do for know. Any ideas?

That is a great record! My brother had it on last night, very interesting to hear what three bass personalities like that come up with when they are together!

Absolutely! It's an obvious one but just about as good as solo bass gets! Classical Thump is so ridiculously beautiful, I stillc an't get enough! Especially the bit after the solo/interlude. Wow.

Fred Thelonius Baker - Missing Link

It is on iTunes if you can't find it anywhere else and want to preview the tracks. He is a ridiculous bassist and guitarist.

+1+2+3! I think thats one every player should listen to at least a dozen times..... Also "Soul circus", "Live in America" , another good one, although its not all bout' Vic, Bela Fleck's "ufo to ofu"
and pick any Waymon Tisdale CD, they're all good.

Bryan (out with Steve Vai currently) Beller's "View" - quite possible the best album by a bassist I've ever heard because Beller wrote songs and not "5 minutes of riffs" that is all too common in the instrumental music industry period, not just bass.

the verdict on the two i got - trip wamsley, curve - i really like this and i'm looking for anythin/anyone similar that people can recommend

lucas, gamma jazz - bit too "smooth" for me really and it was quite a full band, i'm looking for maybe more sparse music. i'll check out a show of hands - wooten next i think. any more?
