Solo bass post: "Runaway"

I came up with this one day as I was staring into space plucking my new open strings.

"A young person who is living in a very bad environment escapes, only to be captured and returned to suffer more".

Thanks Mark

GBX is 1970ish Canadian amp...2 15s, solid state. Nothing special, just what I have. I don't use the humbucker on this or my other youtube posts (so far).

wow, you could teach a thing or two to a few of the "solo bass artists" out there. seems like most solo bass compositions rely too heavily on "outrageous techincal ability" or "my (insert random number above 6 here) bass!", and seem to forget the "less important" things like melody, and taste. very, very cool. very mellow, a little depressing, but i like it. i like it alot.

your bass tone fits the song perfectly, i must add.

I love this. I was actually just talking to someone about doing a solo show, and was thinking "Man, how can I write songs without a looper?" but then I see this and just remembered that it doesn't have to be complicated. Although I still prefer using a looper, but that's just my style. And yours is also very good!

Thanks for the great compliment! That's what I was aiming for. As for the other end of the spectrum, I was trying for a way more upbeat feel for this tune:

Please tell me what you think.
