Iīve chnged my gear a bit and now I am an acoustic player Itīs pretty hard to get a good tone out of it when you play double thumb. Are here any acoustic solo bassplayers? I am going to add single jazz pickup on that one to get more concrete tone. Does anybody have any experience with that?
Thanx |

I'm not an acoustic player, but I love hearing one played well. My opinion would be not putting a jazz pickup on it, that might make it sound too electric. Have you ever tried micing it when you record? That would give you a more acoustic sound than a pickup. You could also blend the two together for different sounds. |

| | | | Thank you guys..
ok... I want to have an option of balancing those two pickups - piezo and jazz single. Yes, micing it would be the solution, but I dont want to rely just on the mic because I am going to use acoustic bass even with the band so there would be lot of noises there (? - I donīt know...havenīt tried it yet).
dirtgroove: are you playing also live performances with this setup? with a band? thanx. |

| | | | acoustic it's not electric, if you know what I mean.. Congratulations, watched your yotube: excellent playing, but , in my opinion, quite poor tone. Personally I use piezo (50%) and a good MIC (50%) just some inches from the bass hole. And most important: I adapt my playing technique and style to the instrument: your stuff on that video should sound just terrific on an low action electric!!!
I agree with dedelandia: that new LOW CD has some astonnishing unacompanied ac. bass. I checked this guy's (daniel diaz) myspace and it seems that he mantains that page , so I sent an email asking about his axe and recordings technique, cause it's the more specific, specialised stuff on acoustic: those songs couln't work on any other instrument, it seems.. But it's clearly shown on that album: he plays on the acoustic more chordal, slow pieces, and sound amazing. But he uses electric (and fretless) for more atacked fast melodies....
Would lov eto check out Jonas Hellborg's acoustic stuff mentioned above by someone else, taht should be something...
And Steve Swalow plays an sensitive, melodic solo on a track in the duo album by Metheny/Scofield, that again: seems taht he's adpting his vocabulary to the caracteristics of the instrument..
Again: great playing in your video man. Bravo! |

| | | Thanx... I played electric before, but its not the feeling iam looking for. Acoustic is just fine. Sound is sometimes really terrible, but trust me...When I play with a sound a bit, Its really cool | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
