A friend of mine loaned me a copy of an album called Jazz in the Present Tense by the Soulsonics - it is older (1994, I think) and the only record they made as far as I can tell. It is awesome with GREAT basslines - it grooves hard. Doing some research on the web, I guess it falls into the Acid-Jazz category or Jazz Rap (which I've never heard of). It is a mix of Jazz, Funk, Hip-Hop and Latin\Cuban I guess. Anyone else heard of the Solsonics? Know of any other artists out there with similar recordings?
