Hey - just wanted to share another bass and keys duo tune... ever had one of those gigs where you think you're going to play a tune at one speed, and you end up playing it waaaaaay faster? This is kind of what happened here... hence my solo is a bit wild and noodly - I just kind of went with the stupidly fast tempo and hoped I'd survive... I can't believe I held the walking line together (just), let me know what you think.

Solar (Mile Davis)

(Me - bass - Tom Pilling - keys)

Cheers

Hey, I like that solo! Thats some tasty playing right the way through, although I can't say I'm overly keen on the twinkly keys.

On monday, at a jazz jam, I called rhythm changes at about 200BPM, so the horns started to play the Flintstones, but because that head has so many long notes, it actually started about 340BPM.

The funny thing is that I was the only guy up there besides the pianist and this outrageous sax player who could hang well enough to solo, and then, of course, the drums drop out on my solo, and then everyone comes in about 4 bars too early...

fun...
actually, it was.

BTW, yes, Solar was pretty blazing. Good chops, though man, and good job at outline the harmonic structure with your solos. It's amazing how few bass players can take a harmonically clear solo.
