Just thought I'd post a test song I did with my Ric 4003. I recorded this when I first got it a while ago. And who said pretentious prog rock was dead??

Blue Bleed

That was cool! Good job.

I don't want to overburden you, but can you give a quick run-down of your recording devices on that track, namely tracking method and drum machine?

I like it a lot! It's very Rush-ish (which is the highest compliment I can give you as Rush is my favorite band of all time. ). I love your bass tone man! What amp/effect setup are you using?

Wicked!

Great sound...and decent chops too.

Kudos buddy!

Sorry for ignoring this thread, I got all involved in a Ric bashing thread in the Basses Forum

Thanks everybody!

It's an all stock '05 Ric 4003, Midnight Blue with the infamous "blue bleed" issue (that's how I named the song). Thomastik-Infeld Powerbass Roundwound strings. I'm running the bass through IK Multimedia SVX plugin that was tweaked around the "Sustain Bass" preset. I'd like to remix it at some point re-amping through my Sansamp VT Bass pedal, which I didn't own at the time.

The drums are XLN Audio's Addictive Drums. On this particular song I started with some preset beats and tweaked them to kind of fit. It was a quicky test song so I didn't beat my brains against it too hard I usually write my own drum parts from scratch. Too bad playing real drums isn't as easy as just programming them!

Very cool--if that's a "quicky test song" I'm afraid to listen to one you spend some time on! Great job.
