Some new stuff!! Check it out!

I have a new project I've just started working with. So new in fact, this was the second time we all actually played together.

The band really is smoking hot IMO. All the players are some of the first call guys here in town. The guitar player is killin'

I guess not bad for an unplanned "sit-in" at a local club.

The quality isn't that bad for a board recording actually.

Please excuse the mindless/detached solo on "SummerTime".
I don't know what the hell happened!!
It was the first time we really played the tune that way.

http://www.myspace.com/chrystalgroove

"Big Al & The Guys" was the band playing that night (which I was playing with also) but we/they let my other project up for two tunes.

My rig was:
Smith BSR5J-MW, Demeter Compulator compressor, Demeter BEQ-BP, AI Focus 1 into a pair of Epifani UL112's.
Line out of the AI into the board.
Pretty much flat EQ wise.

So, there you have it!!

Yeah, that Smith is pretty damn nice!!!
When I bought it, I thought it was cool. Played nice, sounded good. But the more I played it the better it sounded.
I'm yet to be unhappy with it to be honest.

And the best part is, I wasn't expecting it to sound that good. It was bought as a back-up bass. Now it's #1!

Sarge, thanks man. I listen to it and cringe a bit. It was like, I got the look to solo 10 seconds before I did: "Who me?!?! Umm..OK"
Now the guitar player.....whew!!!

Thanks Papersen!!!

I'm really excited about this project. Seems that everyone is on the same page about what the goals are.

It's still in it's early stages as of now, but we are scheduling some studio time in the next few weeks to track those same two tunes.

I just thought I would post up a link and take a few hits from you guys here at TB!!

The bio on the site is a little over the top, but these guys (and myself) have really played with a TON of people here in the city.

And yeah, I'm still shocked how that Smith sounds.
Thanks Kmrumedy!

I like the clips- very cool sound, but I am glad YOU said it about the bio. There is confidence then there is arrogance, ya know? Quoting good press is confidence, saying the stuff yourself is arrogant. Not that you asked, but I would tone that bit down, or get whoever wrote it to modify it just a bit. I'm just saying that from a reader's pov.
The clips speak for themselves. You are plenty bad ass btw.

I dig, what your saying.
It was written for us for the most part. It was taken from the beginings of our "press pack". And I guess thats where you run your mouth a bit eh?!?!

For the most part it's factual. Sure it boasts some, and I agree it's over the top a bit. But these guys have played with the top bands/acts in town here. And well as on the road on tours and such. Myself included.

I'll talk to them and see what's up. I'm just maintaining it right now for messages/add friends and such.

Thanks for the feed back BTW.

Agreed the most important thing is that you can back it up!
It's just my personal taste on the written content style.

i like the clips very much, but i have to agree on the bio.
i have read a lot and sometimes written this kind of bios/press releases for artists around me, so i know that it's normal to have sort of an overly-confident tone. still i think that you've taken it too far.

there was a point when my "sympathy" and "admiration" for you turned into "yeah, well, they're pretty full of themselves".

i would imagine i'm not the only one.

Our booker (or booking agent) wrote it. Those here who know me personally know that I'm not like that.
I'm gonna get it edited today if I can. We'll see how it looks later.

well, you don't even come across like that on the internet, so i didn't expect that you wrote that personally.

anyway, good luck with that project - it sounds really great!

Great playing, and the Smith doesn't sound too bad either

I don't know; I think we're all being a little harsh on them.

We know Mike's not like that, and we know that they can play well enough for much stronger words.

There's nothing wrong with telling it like it is, especially when you're trying to promote something.

I'd have to agree-your booking agent went way over the top with that one. It seems extremely arrogant to me. What tours have you guys done?
