Kem, Laura Wilkie, TJ Kelly, Bros. Groove, Kimmie Horne, Alexander Zonject (sp?) to name a few.

Laura Wilkie & TJ Kelly are two that I have done (country gigs BTW) in the last year or so. There are other regional ones as well. The lesser known ones if you will.
Alyssa Simmons- me.
Kem & Zonject- keyboard player
Kimmie Horne- guitar player.
And the drummer Rick has done a LOTof road work.
These are the ones I remember off hand. There are a bunch more.

Trust me, it's no BS when I say these guys are first call here.

There is talk of Paradise Island in Florida as well as some others in the Orlando area right now.
Outside of those everything else is local here in Detroit.

Very cool stuff, and not surprising from one of the best bass players in Detroit. Band was very cool live, but I must admit I didn't notice the Bass player. Crystal is the real deal. You know she's gonna make it big and then their going to hire a bunch of male models for the band and lip sync everything!

The stuff is awesome Mike. And the bass solo is very nice - the Smith sounds so smooth in your very capable hands!

And don't sweat the bio - it's cool baby, you can back up all of the written words!!!

Be well...

Thanks guys.
I still cringe a bit when I hear that solo though!

As for the bio. I talked to everyone and they dig it. So, it's staying for now.
As for backing up what it says, we'll see. I think were up to the fight.

Holy cow, that's the sound in my head! Oh man, I need new fingers heheh.

Is your smith a bolt or neck through? Wonder if the one you don't have has the same vibe.

BTW, you smoke!

Thanks Sean!!

I'm sure your fingers are fine!!

My Smith is a bolt-on. I've owned both neck-thru and bolt-on, but this is the first with the Jazz Bass type of pick-ups.
Smith's are known for the soapbars, but their Jazz style pick-ups are sweet!!

When I get back on my feet, I may get another Smith. But with the soapbars. Dunno. We'll see.

Yeah, I'm going to start keeping an eye on the used market. I keep saying that, I need to just jump in with both feet. It is unreal how deep and growly, yet cutting your tone is!

What a great advert for Ken Smith basses! We get to know exactly the bass and setup then get the chance to hear a quality live recording, even a bass solo and some 'B' string.
Wonderful playing too of course.
I wish we could have more of these where a great player gets to test-drive a bass for us out here in networld.
Great stuff guys!
