Yeah... thats insane. How do you learn how to do that?

Imagine how many hours you would have to practice to play that without screwing up.

(on a side note, it looks like Ontario owns this thread)

Wow, I really enjoyed that! I love those guys playing all these upbeat songs in crazy manners on acoustic guitars these days, and that was right up there with Don Alder!

Here is some more brilliant acoustic playing with a personal favourite of mine laying down some stanky funk on the bass...

I'll give it about two weeks before we see some wanker doing that on his 11-string bass.

He's from Montreal. Apparently he has an album out soon. I think I may have to pick it up.

He's from Montreal. Actually that clip is from a tv show called Les Pourris de Talent which used to air on musique plus (the french equivalent of mtv)

After his first time on air, he got called by a few big artists in Quebec (most notably Linda Lemay) to play on their tours.

Don't tell me that your appreciation for music begins and ends with bass. If so, you are missing out on a whole world of music. That first video was beautiful. I loved the mix of using the guitar as a stringed and percussive instrument. If I had money, and if the album came out down here in So. Cali, I'd buy it.

Here's Monte Montgomery on Austin City Limits - with Chris Maresh on bass. Monte gets rolling around the 4 minute mark.

yup.. i'm working this year, then going to school probalby at u of t or york.. western was fun and all, but not my kind of place other than the excessive partying, which is now out of my system. I'm actually playing a show on the 25th there or something at some shelter for girls.. I don't even know.. my band was very vague in details.. I'll let you know when I find out if you're interested in checking us out.

Look pal,I thought this was a bass forum and all things bass was duly discussed and debated. My appreciation for music is my business and I'm telling you that if this line continues,we will end up with drums, sax, violin and even Indian tabla on the menu.
Open a can of worms if you want, but I for one prefer to preserve the identity of bassists in a bassists forum. If you want to listen to 'great guitarists' then log into the relevant sites.
Hope we can still be friends after that though
