Open a can of worms if you want, but I for one prefer to preserve the identity of bassists in a bassists forum. If you want to listen to 'great guitarists' then log into the relevant sites.
Hope we can still be friends after that though
okey.... maybe it should've been in the off topic forum, but....

whatever.

pretty cool stuff! montreal represent!

i think you all could try this at home (as long as you have an acoustic gtr): tune it open (like D-A-D-F#-A-D), and then tap away all over the place like erik mongrain! i'm guessing you'll get some very similar sounds if you try.

What was the melody again? I was trying to sing it in the car but couldn't remember the melody... oh well.

It is bass PLAYERS forum, be it electric or upright. So the players like to share other things they're interested while still maintaining their focus on the bass. The video wasn't put in the "basses" thread. So it's either in the right place or should have been put in Off Topic. I'll grant the Off Topic.

We'd have to be friends first before affirming that we're still friends. But surely it's possible that the friendship could start up.

I saw this guy live opening for Paul Reed Smith's band at a charity show here in Baltimore. He's pretty incredible.

As for what it has to do with bass, well... never heard of percussive bass playing? Tapping? I actually think the guy's techniques might be put to better use on an extended-range bass or some sort than on a guitar.

Awesome guitarist, reminds me of John Butler. Check him out on YouTube if you haven't already!

Hello Chris2112,

I hope your not suggesting that I,by my comments shoud be considered a troll?

Where's your contribution to the thread?

I have highlighted that this is a bass forum and as such, people are encouraged to offer their opinions and that's what I have done, particularly when the thread is not bass related
Talk Bass...is the name of the website? Not my idea ,I merely concur with the site.If people wish to discuss drummers, guitarists etc on this site then I feel that before long the site would loose it's identity and become 'Talk Musicians'

Am I a troll too? I consider myself to be more of a troglodyte or an amoeba.
