Trombone Shorty is great, he's kind of hard to classify, maybe jazz/funk. Whatever you call it, just listen. Also check out the James Taylor Quartet - jazz/funk with Hammond organ, just groovy as heck.

I like Maxwell and Jill Scott in the neo-soul style.

Mayor Hawthorne is awesome, and Eli Paperboy Reed. Also check out , Live at Darryl's House, just google it. He has great new Neo Soul talent.

Check out Karl Densons Tiny Universe. They are in the vein of The meters , and trombone shorty, their live stuff is better than their albums IMO..

They've been around for a little while, but they're a New Orleans group with several heaping spoonfulls of funk on top. IMO, their live stuff beats their studio stuff hands down.

Man, I've really been enjoying the debut album from last year by Seattle's very own Allen Stone! Some seriously soulful stuff. Not a whole lot in the way of inspirational bass playing, but the music is great. I need to hook up with that dude!

Are you hip to these guys? They've played down here a few times, good shows.

No, I wasn't until just now! I do know the place that that video on the front page was shot at well, though! Cool, I'll check them out some more.
