The Ohio Players...Fire is the album.

If you like that one, check out "Skin Tight"(even better, IMO).

I checked out "Skin Tight" too. Not a bad jam at all, but not as good as "Fire" IMO.

Any other recomendations by these guys that anyone can think of would be cool too.

Well, they, of course, were responsible for a little ditty called "Love Rollercoaster."

And I think Jim should tell the story of the "alleged studio murder of their album cover girl."

That scream, which is blood-curdling, was a hoax.
Check out the details at www.snopes.com

The legend was this-
A girl was being murdered in the studio next to The Ohio Players' studio.
The scream occurs during the 2nd guitar breakdown.
According to snopes, a band member did the scream(since the tune is talking about a rollercoaster)...the particular band member mentioned that he could scream & sound like a girl(High-pitched).
The band herad the scuttlebutt & let it slide; figured that the "Urban Myth" would help them sell even more records.

Tell you what-
When I thought it was 'real', that scream did give me chills.

Wow, after an answer like that to that question, I'm really tempted to post my own "what song is this" thread for one of the tunes I currently need to figure out. Hehe

Good bass work in that song, but on the whole, I can't stand the song.

Yeah they did. I think that might be why I can't stand it.

BTW, I listened(& played along to "Skin Tight") last night.

IMO, it's The Ohio Players at their best.
The intro is almost polyrhythmic; a Rock bass groove over some funky horns & some cool electric piano comping. Nice drum work, of course.
And the change is nice...chromatics into the chord changes, both ascending & descending + some 10ths("F#"/OPEN "D").

Anyone remember MTV's Remote Control?
...their theme song was a "Fire" ripoff.

I admire the drum work and bass line on "Skin Tight" too. I didn't disect it the way you did though. Just a few listens and thought to myself, "thats a nice lil groove those two got goin on"
