Songs in 5/4

I was thinking about best-known songs in 5/4 on the way home from the gig last night. I'm thinking "Take Five", by Paul Desmond of the Dave Brubeck group, is probably the most well-known. But what is the SECOND most well known song in 5/4 ??

How about the "Mission Impossible" theme? That would be my guess as to the second most-known song in 5/4 time.

Mars, Bringer of War from Gustav Holst's The Planets.

Either that, or Tool's Vicarious, simply because it happens to be on the radio right now

Oop, somebody beat me to it with a better one. The Mission Impossible theme is probably even better known than Take Five.

The intro to Cream's "White Room" is in 5/4, as is Blind Faith's "Do What You Like."

But the two most famous ones are probably the afore-mentioned "Take Five" and "Mission: Impossible."

That's a coincidence - we were listening to a Cream album at the weekend and my girlfriend said - that track is ripping off Jethro Tull's "Living in the Past" and we had both never noticed it before !!

Don't telephones ring in 5/4 - just so you're more likely answer them?

Actually, "Living in the Past" (1972) came after "White Room" (1968).

"Face Dances Part One" by Pete Townshend. And it sounds completely natural despite the odd time signature.

The theme from "Halloween."
Just about any Dave Holland CD has at least one song in 5/4.

Actually, it's 13/8, 4/4, and 15/8.
