What's the deal with music about drugs? I can think of a bunch off of my head, and i'm sure I can find more.
Primus- On the Tweak Again
Primus- Those Damned Blue Collared Tweakers
Primus- The Duchess and the Proverbial Mindspread
Black Sabbath- Killing Yourself to Live
Black Sabbath- Snowblind
Black Sabbath- Sweet Leaf
Black Sabbath- Fairies Wear Boots (probably)
Metallica- Master of Puppets (not a negative drug connotation however)
I'm sure i've left out a few Black Sabbath songs. What do you guys think?

Damn near every Alice in Chains song is about drugs, depression or death. One song that many people think is drugs but actually isn't is the song Rooster. It is about Jerry Cantrell's father. |

As Bill Hicks said at the start of Tool's Third Eye "all those great artists that enhanced ur lifes throughout the years, reeeeaaaaaaaallllllllllll f-cking high on drugs." (something like that anyway). I only wish Jaco had never started taking drugs.

Someone mentioned "Maggot Brain" Well that song is instumental!
But here are some tid bits about it. Guitarist Eddie "Maggot Brain" Hazel was told by George Clinton before recording the song to think of something really sad and then let his feelings show through the song, I believe he chose his Mother who had passed and thus the heartfelt rendition of a blues ballard guitar solo that Jimmy Hendrix would have been proud of ! Not doubt he was tore down when he recorded it though!
RIP EDDIE

I believe they were called "The intervening decades between 1959 and 2005."

Eno and Fripp were in on the recording...if you haven't heard it you're missing out!!! Worth the price of the record alone; there's lots of other great stuff on that one too (Mind, Paper, Cities, Memories Can't Wait) |
