Songs with cool use of bass wah?

Sign in to disble this ad
I always thought Refused's "The Shape of Punk to Come" had some really cool parts with the bass being played through a wah wah pedal while still sounding like a bass so I was wondering what other songs there are with wah wah-ified bass in them. Anyone have any suggestions? I might just have to get yet another pedal.

Metallica - Seek & Destroy
Metallica - For Whom The Bell Tolls
Metallica - Anaesthesia (Pulling Teeth)
Metallica - The Call of Ktulu
Pantera - Uplift
Black Sabbath - Bassically (intro to NIB)
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Coffee Shop

That should keep you busy for a while.

Hmm, I always thought "Coffee Shop" was some kind of envelope filter with an extreme setting.

I thought that too until I saw this thread... there is too wide a range of wah tones for that to be an autowah setting. Makes sense now, I always wondered what autowah he was playing.

Man... I need a real wah!

King Crimson - Lark's tongues in Aspic pt.1

Yes - Don't Kill The Whale
On The Silent Wings Of Freedom

The Yes ones are auto-wah I believe, the depth of the effect governed by attack.

Yes, Squire used
Colorsound Dipthonizer. Great sound but maybe a bit overused on "Tormato" album. He hadn't used it since, though.

One track featuring wah-wah pedal is "Survival" off Yes' first album.

Very true... but that solo has some bits waaayy too good to be the DOD... unless I underestimate it's range/response... which is possible. Plus he isn't confined to one type of effect. Try telling Mars Volta's new bassist (who's name escapes me) to use just one of anything!
