Ok, so I’m awfully bored, and I decided to set up what you could generously call an ad-hoc recording setup in my practice space (i.e. my basement). I want to see what you think of the tone I’ve achieved. So here’s my sound clip (I recommend setting any EQs flat before listening):
THIS LINK HAS NSFW ADS ON THE SITE.... my apologies.

Just a warning, the site has some NSFW ads on it, idk how graphic it gets cuz I didn’t sit and watch it; the site’s free, so I was willing to put up with it.
It was recorded in one take with Acoustica Beatcraft. There was no post-recording editing except to remove some dead air, so I guess you could call it a live mix.
Following is the exact setup in extreme detail (I said I’m bored, remember?).
Stock Fender Jaguar, standard tuning, passive tone control ¼ open, active treble and bass ¾ and ¼ up, respectively. Neck pup off, bridge pup in ‘series’ mode. Strings are DR hi-beams. (The bass is by far my most powerful tone shaping tool. It is my firm belief that I can jack it into a broken urinal in the back of a Thai restaurant and within 15 seconds find a useable tone.)
Effects loop: Russian Muff>Morley Dual Bass Wah>MXR Super Compressor>Dano reverb>Boss Super Chorus
Amp is a Behringer 450w, shape function is always on and 2/3 open. EQ is nearly flat, slight cut at the lows and slight boost in the highs. The direct out is going into my powered mixer.
Mixer is a Sampson 6 channel. Master EQ has been adjusted to the room. Channel EQ is flat, no effects or processing. The recording output is sent at line level to my laptop’s soundcard.
Laptop is running Acousitca Beatcraft (which kinda sucks; its slightly better than Audacity, but not by much. I gotta get Reaper…). No editing of any kind was done, so its all there as I laid it down, warts and all (just like Lemmy’s face).
I did a little freakout at the end, like I might do at the end of an energetic set. Then I switch off all effects and at the very end play an E power chord and let the open E drone, just to let you hear my ‘clean’ sound.
So tell me what you think. I’m open to harsh criticism; but keep in mind that this isn’t a technical showcase, but a tonal one.
