Standard Deviations Teaser (electronica)

Sign in to disble this ad
Here's a teaser track from the upcoming Phamos album, Standard Deviations. It's still a work in progress, but most of the rough tracks are done. The full album will available for free download towards the end of August.

Phamos is the handle I use when working as a producer in my small project studio. Let me know what you think. I'm willing to share photos and my production methods with anyone whose interested.

Hopefully, I'll be able to get a website up and running for downloads; definitely a myspace. I also need an artist who'd be willing to help with the graphic design work.

I'd like to keep my identity anonymous, as I'm a school teacher and some of the song themes are controversial.

Enjoy!
Mr. Pickles

I dig the sounds and the concept.

I also dig what the person (I don't know who he is) is saying.

David Cross

Thanks. The comedian in question is David Cross. The concept for the album is to explore offbeat/controversial ideas through music. Lenny Bruce, Eddie Izzard, and Bill Hicks are featured on some of the other tracks.

Soundclick alternatives?

Three rough mixes will be posted later today.
Does anyone know of a better service than soundclick for hosting these?

Free album download on the way

The album is now finished. The zip file should be ready for download once I upload to the host site. I'll provide the link by tomorrow at the latest.

Currently I can't get track 4, 8 and 12 to burn with nero

EDIT: Windows Media Player seems to read em. Would it be possible to get a list of track times to confirm/for curiosities sake?

OK, so I got it burned and listened to it.

Some interesting ideas. I found some of the songs fell flat when you changed direction near the end of them. I think it would've worked better if you'd changed direction shortly before the vocal section that cued the change, instead of after. JMO of course

Was that ALL done on bass (minus the drums/vocs of course)? I feel that you did some amazing stuff with wah/filters Especially with some of the odd timings. Fun-kee!!!! It really kept me listening

I give it a 4/5:

Thanks for the comments Mr. "Bearded" Tulip.
Yeah, most of the strings are bass. I was inspired by the Ruiner Severhead stuff. I don't think I'm on the same level as a certain Mr. Severhead, but I'm proud of my effort, nonetheless!

I agree with your criticism re: the changes toward the end of the songs. Becuase I had to work so fast, I fell into using the same arrangement. I think I did all the rhythm tracks in like three or four days.

Did you end up getting the track list? I think I posted the graphics in my other thread for the album, which has the tracks listed.

Yep, I got the list, but I was wondering about the times. The 3 tracks in question seemed to play fine so I don't think it's a problem.

I just found it weird that nero couldn't read 'em

I'm not savvy enough to help with the Nero issue. The guitarist from my rock band encoded them for me (he's a network sys-op by trade).
