There have been several cases where artist have been accused of steeling from another song. When i first heard Portished give me a reason. I felt that they was steeling from The Wallace Collection - Daydream. However non musicians i have asked disagree. Could it be the bassline and something else that tells me that they must have been inspired by this song. What do you think ?

Almost all Portishead basslines are sampled.

tr.v. steeled, steel·ing, steels
1. To cover, plate, edge, or point with steel.
2. To make hard, strong, or obdurate; strengthen: He steeled himself for disappointment.

That Portishead song Glory Box is based on a sample of Ike's Rap II by Isaac Hayes.

Hell Is Round the Corner by Tricky samples the same record.

They sound pretty similar to me, but that doesn't mean Portishead stole anything, it can be a pure coincidence.
