I found the Steely Dan album AJA at work a few months ago, and have been listening to it a lot since then. It was my introduction to Steely Dan, which I had previously heard of but not listened to. I love it.

Question: Are the SACD versions of the Steely Dan records worth the investment? Do they sound good? My record shop has Gaucho on SACD, are there others?
I recently bought a SACD player and figured I might go for the super versions right away.....

Ever since they started out, I have been listening to Steely Dan.

Over the decades, I have listened to a lot of great music by musicians of all genres with many fascinating albums. All of which I do grow tired of after a period of compulsive over-listening.

Never happened with Steely Dan, they are probably the only constant in the evolution (convolution ?) of my musical tastes.

+1 on buying the Box Set. You simply need to have it in your collection.

I was just like you, in the dark. But once I found the Dan I was hooked. It was almost as big as when I found Weather Report "Heavy Weather".

They always looked a bit odd - like the weird kids in school, who have no other friends...? Maybe slightly cruel - but they certainly had the last laugh!

I was not really saying they looked "weird"...was just sayin' how much Jobs/Woz & Fagen/Becker resembled each other.

Lots of great musicianship in the group but I've not noticed one song that's frequently overlooked.

Give a close listen to the groove on Bad Sneakers....Rainey rocks it!

The former certainly look weird to me in that photo - but I doubt they care now!

Becker and Fagan really look like they are in a band there!
