Otherwise, this is an awesome song. |

Doesn't sound to have any effects on it. Compression, I don't know, I'm not good enough to tell by ear if it has compression on it or not. Clean fretless with lots of mid/treble if you ask me. Most likely nothing super-secret or special, just really great playing IMO.

From an old bass player interview he did awhile back he said his fingerboard gets pretty chewed up as you would expect with steels. That probably has a lot to do with the cool smeary growl he gets.
I didn't know he played an ESP. I thought he still played Carvin. Does anyone have picks of him playing the ESP? |

His bass is the green dragon bass. In terms of his setup, I do know that he goes against the tide on his five string basses and opts for the high C string instead of the low B string on his basses, I want to say something like 30-50-70-85-110. I do believe though that he plays in drop Db with Testament (Db, Ab, Db, Gb, Cb), where heavier strings would excel. Steve Digiorgio is a big influence on my playing, and I string my five string fretless the same way, albeit with much lighter strings, though I'm pondering a six string in the future just to please guitarists who can't comprehend life without a low B wielding bassist.
[edit: didn't see Demon's post, but yes, that's the bass.]
