If you are a Porcupine Tree fan, you have to check out the new Steven Wilson solo album called "Insurgents". It is absolutely wonderful and the bonus track an instrumental called "Collecting Space" has to be one of the best composed pieces of music I have heard all year. Its highly recommended.
For you bass heads, Tony Levin plays bass on a few tracks on the album and for those prog fans, Jordan Rudress has keyboard duties on a few of the proggier numbers.
Get this album.

I am not sure if it was rerecorded for Insurgentes, but I imagine it probably was given the propensity of Mr Wilson to do this (eg Shesmovedon). In any event, I am yet to hear a piece of music this year which it better than Collecting Space and the rest of the album is amazing as well.

It turns out that the limited edition set which I paid about £30 for is selling for up to £300 on eBay. Haha, maybe I shouldn't have opened it and just sold it on. Nah...the musics too good for that!

Nah...the musics too good for that! | My Partner purchased the LE "Book" edition as one of her "Birthday Presents" in October, and has been digesting the set since it arrived last week. And as for the eBay sale prices, I'm kicking myself for not purchasing a copy myself (there was a limit of one per person) and selling it off. That's capitalism, we're broke, and PT fans are insane when it comes to collecting.
Rumor also is that as opposed to this being PT's "year off", they'll be writing next Spring and Summer and touring in the Fall to debut the "new material" as they did with the FOABP songs during the "Arriving Somewhere..." DVD promotional mini-tour in 1996. |

I can't wait!

Also, anything with Tony Levin playing on it is going to be at the very least decent on the sheer power of his awesomeness. Jordan Ruddess is cool too. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
