Well a "riff" to me, is a short rhythmic figure - shorter than this line anyway!

Right Bruce, if I listen to this track and find out that this line is indeed a riff there'll be Hell to pay!
riff vs melody vs ostinato phrase or whatever - sounds like one big IMO-type grey area to me.
