Question stevie wonder tune with multi track bass

Sign in to disble this ad
hey all,
this morning went my alarm clock went off i awoke to this wildly energetic stevie wonder tune that seemed like it was all bass, drums and keyboards, and a horn part near the end. i couldn't make out any lyrical hook, but the whole song was just an onslaught of jammin killer bass. i dont know what it was called but i'm hoping someone on here does and could let me know.
thanks

Hard to say. The only true "instrumental" track of his that gets much airplay is "Fingertips (Pt. 2)", a live recording from 1963, but that's mostly harmonica and horns, not so much bass & keyboards.

I would take a guess that you caught the 2nd half of "I Wish" from the "Songs In The Key Of Life" album?

Maybe it was the end of Do I Do, that rocks, Dizzy Gallespie on horns(not at the end mind) Nathan Watts on bass. Did it have any harmonica in it?? Then again he sings a little at the end. Contusion from SITKOL is the only other i can think of off hand???

there was no harmonica, and i forgot to mention that there was singing the whole way through. i heard probably the last 60 seconds or so. . . it had a really fast paced but bouncy feel, and all the basses had the same tone, which was a burpy funk tone. i wish i could remember more about it!
thanks for the replies and i hope this may help.

Great bass line, one of my favourites for grooving along to. Here's a short clip from our band's version: I Wish
