Studio Recording - Feedback Wanted!

Sign in to disble this ad
The band just got done cutting 5 tracks in a nice studio (only 4 of 5 are online currently), and I'd appreciate any feedback on the recording quality, mix and music. The tracks that I'll post are not finished - we have some changes that we'll be requesting. I'd appreciate any feedback on the recording - we're looking to hear what people think!

Pretty simple set-up - three piece band, lead and rhythm guitars (tracked separately), guitarist is lead vocals, drummer, and I'm on bass and harmony vocals. Bass was direct to the board - Highway One Jazz with Dimarzio Model J pickups.

A couple MP3s:

Redhead Lover

Fly

MySpace Tracks - "Here Lies My Heart" and "One Bar Room Tonight"

Thanks!

Very nice!

Very smooth sounding. Its not my kind of music listening-wise, but its very well mixed and the bass sounds great. Do you like the Dimarzio pickups?

Thanks for the feedback - I do like the Dimarzio pickups - they sound very good for recording IMO, but can be a little wooly when playing live. I like them enough to not be looking for something different. The noise cancellation is very nice, though they really do not sound like single coils at all. I have Model Js in both of my jazz basses just because I'm familiar with them and they are noise cancelling.

Sounds like a pro production to me.

The kick is a little fat for my tastes (less 50hz, more 1K) but, I almost always think that these days.

I try not to judge Myspace clips as their compression can be a little destructive at times to my ears.
